Pronovias began in 1922 as a Barcelona lace and fabric house, and it went on to create the first ready-to-wear bridal collection — luxury made to fit real women rather than stitched one at a time. A century later, lace is still its signature: fine Chantilly, corded, and guipure, used to shape a neckline and frame the body rather than only to decorate it.

Our founder, Dimitra Mandalas, has 40+ years in fashion design and bridal, and she selects the collection by touch at market rather than from a catalog. Designer options versus in-house alterations
Two different things get called personalization, and they happen at different moments. Designer-ordered options are chosen when you purchase your gown, and Pronovias handles them differently from any other house on our floor. It does not bolt a piece onto a finished dress. It engineers versions of it: one gown may exist with the bodice lined or unlined, with a bolero or without one, with a longer train or a shorter one — each version designed rather than assembled. That is the ready-to-wear instinct still running, a century on. Extended sizes can be ordered, and the length adjusted in measured increments so the gown arrives closer to your height before a hem is ever touched. Pattern modifications are possible on many styles too, and for the ones brides ask for most the house has already built the result and photographed it — so your consultant can show you the version rather than describe it. What any given style allows varies, and she confirms yours with Pronovias at the time you purchase.
In-house alterations are where the rest happens, once the gown is here: the fit, the hem, a lace overlay brought cleanly to the body. Our master seamstresses bring 40+ years of alterations expertise, in-house. Either way, the gown is ordered in a standard size from Pronovias’s own size chart and fitted to you in-house, never made to your exact measurements.
Where the coordination begins
For a Pronovias bride, the gown is where the coordination begins, not where it ends. Because you chose it with us, the same team dresses the rest of your party to it — your mother from our 350+ mother-of-the-bride and mother-of-the-groom gowns, your bridesmaids, and the men in tuxedos — with the fabrics held side by side before a single order is placed. Most bridal shops sell the gown and send you elsewhere for everyone else; here your whole party is coordinated, not just matching, by people who already know your vision.

Are Pronovias gowns made to my measurements?
No. We measure your bust, waist, and hip, order the size that best fits your largest measurement from Pronovias’s own size chart, and our master seamstresses complete the fit in-house. A gown drawn and built from scratch is a separate service, and one we also offer.
How does a Pronovias gown fit?

How long do alterations take on a Pronovias gown?
Plan to begin your alterations 8 to 10 weeks before your portrait or wedding date, and your consultant will confirm the timing for your gown at the first fitting. A lace-heavy gown asks for more of that window than a clean crepe does.
What are your payment options?
We offer payment terms with no finance fees. A gown bought from our floor can go on our Layaway Plan; a gown that has to be special ordered has our Special Order Payment Plan instead. Ask a bridal consultant which one fits the gown you choose.
